For many departments, the instructors available to teach will have an influence on
the number and types of courses that are offered in a given semester.
Use this section to help determine which instructors will be teaching in a given
semester, their preferences and final assignments.
Determine instructor availability and preferences
Use the following tools to help determine the availability and preferences of the instructors.
- Instructor availability - instructors can indicate conflicts/obligations for a given semester and provide pre-teaching preferences.
Assign instructors to courses
Assign instructors to courses based on budget allowances, lecture funding, teaching loads, etc.
- Determine budget allowances
- Assign courses to lecturers, TAs (consult department list of eligible TAs)
- Schedule the TA sections for the big lectures in accordance with budget or budget estimate (includes zero enrollment sections that may be opened later)
Add new instructors to system
New instructors must be entered into IADS before their names can be added to the course in the ISIS database. Contact the human resource person in your department to initiate the process of adding them into IADS.
